The film crews that shut down a section of Surf Avenue, near Luna Park, Tuesday evening were shooting a scene for “Vinyl,” the new HBO show produced by Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger, and production is expected to continue on Wednesday, according to the Coney Island Blog.

The show, which debuts in 2016, stars Bobby Cannavale as a 1970s music executive. Scorsese reportedly directed the pilot episode, according to the Hollywood Reporter, and the show also promises performances by James Jagger, son of the legendary rock star, as well as Olivia Wild and Ray Romano.

The scene filmed on Surf Avenue is supposed to be a “Buddy Holly” dream sequence, Coney Island Blog reports, and will include a wrecked automobile. Filmmakers set up a small carnival, including a ferris wheel, in the empty lot near West 12th Street. There were several classic sports cars and at least one old telephone booth seen on Surf Avenue while production was underway.
