Saying Goodbye To The Dogwood

Many of us said goodbye to The Dogwood this weekend, and we wanted to share a number of photos that we noticed neighbors (including the wonderful folks at The Dogwood) posting on Instagram of the Southern restaurant that served its last meal on Sunday. Best of luck to Chef Ashley and Matt as they embark on their next adventure – including parenthood!

Thanks for all the amazing eats – you’ll be missed! And, for our neighbors who got photos that we missed – feel free to send them to editor@ditmasparkcorner.com and we can post them.

  1. We just wanted to thank the community once again. We’ve lived in this neighborhood for years, and have always wanted to build a local spot. We never considered ourselves to be a destination restaurant that would draw the attention of all 5 boroughs. For us, we hoped to create a space for people in the neighborhood to come and mingle, and feel like a second home. The response we got was overwhelming, and we’re grateful to have had the opportunity.

When we found out we were expecting our first child, we realized the 15 hours a day, 7 days a week we were putting in to the place were no longer sustainable for us. Our restaurant was the culmination of a lifelong dream, and selling the space was not a decision we made lightly. At the end of the day, however, a Ditmas Park local purchased the spot and has amazing plans ahead for the space. Look for a great new addition to Church Ave in the coming weeks!

Thank you again a thousand times over. You can still contact us regarding catering or event coordination, and hopefully down the road we’ll be back in a brick and mortar.

  3. Congratulations and good luck to you both. The Dogwood and you will be remembered as pioneers in making our end of Church Avenue the destination it has become. Best wishes!
