How is it I am only learning that Erasure’s Vince Clarke lived in Park Slope now that he’s moving?
Clarke (who co-founded Depeche Mode and Yaz in the early 80s) and his wife, Tracy Hurley Martin (who was a co-owner of Gowanus’ beloved Morbid Anatomy Museum which closed late last year), have put their stunning 178 Garfield Place (between 6th & 7th Avenues) townhouse on the market for just under $6 million, Brooklyn Vegan reports.
The beautiful home has a pedigree—Clarke and Martin purchased the 19th-century townhouse from J. Crew’s (soon to be former) President and Creative Director Jenna Lyons in 2012. The house made quite a splash in the home design world after Domino magazine featured a spread of Lyons in her well-appointed abode in 2008.
The 3,600-square-foot home features six bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, a chef’s kitchen, and a landscaped and irrigated south-facing garden. I can’t help but wonder if Clarke ever had Alison Moyet and Andy Bell over for tea in the garden, or the Depeche Mode guys over for a barbecue in the backyard…
