Ring In 2016 With Prospect Park’s Fireworks Extravaganza

Times Square might have their big ball, but everybody knows that Brooklyn is the place to be this New Year’s Eve. Grab your friends and head to Prospect Park on Thursday for their annual fireworks display.

Starting at 11pm, there will be hot chocolate and music at Grand Army Plaza. Afterward, stick around for the big show at midnight, all presented by the Prospect Park Alliance and Borough President Eric Adams.

If you plan on arriving right before the midnight show (which is what we’ve done the past few years), there are several places that Prospect Park suggests as prime watching spots. Camp out anywhere in Grand Army Plaza, inside the park on the West Drive, or along Prospect Park West between Grand Army Plaza and 9th Street.

According to the weather forecast, it’s finally going to start feeling like December around these parts, so if you bring the kids out, be sure to dress in layers. Also note that the park can get pretty crowded, and depending on where you’re watching from, the pyrotechnics can be loud, so if your little ones are sensitive to lots of people and noise, maybe bring headphones or a special cuddle toy.

If you take any pictures from the show, email us – editor@bklyner.com – and we’ll post them on the site!

Fireworks not your thing? Plenty of bars around the area are hopping on Thursday night, Get the details over at our events roundup.
