Choice Greene is getting a new look this spring and cutting back on its selection of products.

The Clinton Hill gourmet grocery at 214 Greene and its sister cafe, Choice Market, are undergoing renovations to expand seating and extend the backyard area of the restaurant, according to manager Gerson Sandoval. The store will also limit its selection of groceries and won’t sell produce, Sandoval said.

“We can’t compete with supermarket prices,” he said. “It’s up in the air if we’ll carry meat and cheese, since there aren’t any local cheese stores.”

The store will continue to sell local products, fresh bread, coffee and juice, according to Sandoval. “It’s going to be more of an in-house store,” Sandoval said.

The renovations will take three to four months to complete.
