REMINDER: Repairs To Third Street Bridge—Single Lane Only

NYC DOT will begin post-Superstorm Sandy recovery construction today on the Third Street Bridge over the Gowanus Canal.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane between the hours of 7am to 3:30pm from Monday to Friday, May 22 – May 26, and then again from Tuesday to Friday, May 30 – June 2.

No work will take place over the Memorial Day weekend and traffic will not be disrupted from May 27 – 29.

Flaggers will be situated on both ends of the single traffic lane using “Go/Stop” paddles to direct drivers and help maintain traffic flow. Message boards will also be placed at both ends of the bridge to alert approaching motorists of the single lane.

DOT will work beneath the roadway deck of the movable bridge to rehabilitate the electrical and mechanical operating systems damaged by Sandy in 2012. All work is expected to be completed by Friday, June 2.

Plan your travel accordingly!
