Local City Council members Domenic Recchia and David Greenfield, along with nine other colleagues – including Council Speaker Christine Quinn, are currently touring the Holy Land courtesy of the Jewish Community Relations Council.

According to Speaker Quinn’s office, the trip is not being paid for with taxpayer funds, writes website CapitalNew York.

On a previous trip in 2007, Council members had “experienced a rocket attack.”

While Speaker Quinn is expected to run for mayor, Councilman Domenic Recchia is reportedly weighing the pros and cons of a campaign for City Comptroller.

Any thoughts on international travel for local elected officials paid for by private groups?

City Councilman Domenic Recchia represents Council District 47, which includes Coney Island, Brighton Beach, Gravesend, as well as part of Bensonhurst. He currently serves as Chairman of the City Council’s Finance Committee.

City Councilman David G. Greenfield represents Council District 44, which includes Borough Park, as well as parts of Midwood and Bensonhurst.
