Prospect Park West Gets Milled This Week

Rough Road Ahead: Milling & Paving
Keep an eye out for no parking signs if you park on the street — the Department of Transportation’s milling and paving work schedule says they’ll be hitting Prospect Park West this week.

Crews will be milling the street (so expect more parking and driving restrictions when they return to pave in the future), but according to their schedule, they’ll be starting at a street that doesn’t intersect with PPW. The city was unable to clarify for us, so anyone out there know where the work is starting?

Monday, August 18 – Thursday, August 21
Prospect Park West from Parade Pl to 14th St

Thursday, August 21 – Friday, August 22
Prospect Park West from 20th St to 14th St

The DOT notes that schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or emergencies.

  1. Parade Place runs along the Parade Grounds on the far side of Prospect Park. If one draws a line north, it would roughly intersect the head end of PPW, where I believe the work is starting. I wonder if that’s some archaic name for what’s now called the “West Safety Area” of Grand Army Plaza, where the green market is held? Any Brooklyn historians know?
