Presidents’ Day Weekend Activities
winter-lake from Prospect Park

The Presidents’ Day vacation was cut short by Superstorm Sandy’s debilitating impact, but public school children still have a 4-day weekend. We’ve compiled a list of activities to keep them entertained.

Prospect Park:

  • Audubon Center (Lincoln Rd/Ocean Ave entrance)–February 18 and 19 from 1-3 pm, rangers will discuss where animals go during the winter.
  • Lefferts Historic House (Children’s Corner)–February 18 and 19 from 1-3, the house will be open for tours and President Day activities.
  • Tennis Bubble (50 Parkside Ave)–Adults and kids can learn tennis by the day or for the entire vacation.
  • Prospect Par Zoo (450 Flatbush Ave)–Open from 10 am to 4:30 pm.

Around the Neighborhood:

  • Greenwood Cemetery (500 25th Street)–Follow the self guided tours Greenwood has laid out on their website.
  • Sean Casey Animal Shelter (153 E 3rd St)–with parental supervision, kids can volunteer to walk dogs. Request a dog your child can handle.

Take your”OM” break:

  • Namaste Yoga (482 Coney Island Ave)–Namaste has a full scheudle of classes this weekend.
  • Jaya Yoga Center (2902 Ft. Hamilton Pkwy)–Learn the healing power of Sanskrit at Jaya.

What you can’t do:
All Brooklyn Public Libraries, including the Windsor Terrace Library  and Kensington Library branches, will be closed Presidents Day Weekend, Saturday February 16 – Monday February 18 for a necessary systems upgrade. Libraries will reopen on Tuesday.
