66th Precinct wanted

Police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down a man who the NYPD said assaulted an 88-year-old woman at her Kensington home Saturday, including throwing her to the ground and attempting to strangle her with his red hoodie sweatshirt.

According to police, the suspect approached the elderly woman as she sat on the stoop of her home on East 2nd Street, between Ditmas and Cortelyou, around 3:45pm Saturday afternoon. When the victim stood up and entered her home, the man allegedly attacked her and then fled the location on foot, the NYPD said.

Police couldn’t say if the attack was random, but they did say there was no verbal exchange between the two leading up to it.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male who is 5-feet-5-inches and weighs 140 pounds.

The victim was transported to Maimonides Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto Crime Stoppers’ website or by texting their tips to CRIMES (274637), then enter TIP577.

Police stressed that all calls are strictly confidential.
