The police is asking for assistance in identifying a suspect who stole a man’s phone on the subway in October and used the device to take a photo of himself.

According to the police, a man was texting on his Galaxy S3 smartphone while riding the Q train early in the morning on Saturday, October 24, when a man snatched the device as the train entered the Beverley Road station. The suspect then fled the train.

The police have now obtained a photo of the suspect, which was taken with the stolen device and uploaded to the victim’s Google account.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s crime stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the crime stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577.
