Playtime In Park Slope: Upcoming Children’s Events

It looks like the rain should hold off until after the Halloween parade tomorrow! That and other fun events for the family coming up this week:

Agatha Cunningham (The True Story)
When: Wednesday, October 30, 4pm
Where: Central Library, Information Commons Lab, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: On October 28, 1977, Agatha Ann Cunningham went missing during her kindergarten trip to the Brooklyn Public Library. She was never found. The legend says that her ghost haunts the lower level decks of the Central Library. A team of teen investigators go to uncover the truth in this film, which will be followed by a a chance to talk to a special panel of “Agatha” experts. For ages 10 and up; no one under 10 will be admitted without a parent or guardian.

BAMboo!
When: Thursday, October 31, 4-7pm
Where: Peter Jay Sharp Building
What: Stuff the sarcophagi full of candy at BAM’s 12th annual Halloween block party, where sphinxes, snakes, and Cleopatras gather for an afternoon of ancient Egypt themed games, candy giveaways, costume contests, and activities.
How much: Free!

The 2013 Park Slope Civic Council Halloween Parade
When: Thursday, October 31, 6:30pm
Where: Starting point is 14th Street and 7th Avenue
What: A Halloween tradition since 1986, expect volunteers handing out candy, giant puppets, and hundreds of children (and parents) in costume. This year’s theme, To Boo or Not to Boo, invites neighbors to come dressed up as favorite fictional characters.
How much: Free!

The Rockdoves
When: Saturday, November 2, 1pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Dance and sing to the interactive live performance of The Rockdoves, whose music touches on everything from urban living and nature, to the value of friendship, family, and home with inspiration from folk, the blues, and rock ‘n roll.
How much: Free!

Baby Wearing Workshop
When: Sunday, November 3, 6-8pm
Where: Central Library, Trustees’ Room, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Learn about options for carrying your baby to be mobile and get things done around the house or around town in this workshop hosted by Babywearers NYC leader Sarah Longwell-Stevens and member Evonne Cho.
How much: Free!
