Photos: “Person Of Interest” Filming In Brighton Beach

We received a heads up from a tipster that the brand new J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan drama, “Person of Interest,” the pilot of which debuted on CBS last week, was filming on Brighton Beach Avenue and Brighton 12th Street yesterday, so we ran on over and shot a few photos.

Filming was going on in and around Golden Key Gourmet Foods (1067 Brighton Beach Avenue), with much of the sidewalk cordoned off by the NYPD, as onlookers gawked at the set, presumably hoping for a celebrity sighting (the only cast member I had heard of was Jim Caviezel, who played Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” as well as Jerry the [I thought very loveable] junkie in “Pay it Forward.”)

Trailers belonging to the crew also lined a sizable section of Coney Island Avenue, from the front of the Brighton Post Office all the way to Brighton Beach Avenue.

Boardwalk Empire Extra’s Facebook page had advertised on September 19 that Grant Wilfley Casting was specifically “seeking NON-UNION Brighton Beach Russians” to star in the show, which was apparently supposed to film September 23, but I’m guessing got pushed forward a few extra days.
