New Plays By Brooklyn Playwrights
When: Thursday, March 20, 8pm
Where: The Old Stone House, 336 3rd Street
What: Curated by Rosemary Moore, three playwrights — Troy Deutsch, Angela Hanks, and Lizzie Olesker — and composer Mary Lloyd-Butler will be reading from new work and playing an arrangement, respectively.
How much: $5 suggested donation includes refreshments and wine
PSC Speaker Series: Integration Matters
When: Friday, March 21, 7pm
Where: John Jay Campus Auditorium, 237 7th Avenue
What: As the 60th anniversary of the Court’s decision in Brown v. Board of Education approaches, what is the meaning of school integration? Join the Park Slope Collegiate PTA for a forum on school integration with Pedro Noguera, New York University Professor of Education and Sociology; David Tipson, civil rights attorney and director of New York Appleseed; and Jill Bloomberg principal of PSC. A reception will follow at Cocoa Bar.

Karaoke Killed The Cat

What: The weekly event is 50% singing, 50% dance party, 100% fun.

Introduction To Bird Watching

Where: Meet at Audubon Center in Prospect Park
What: Members of the Brooklyn Bird Club will introduce you to some of the birds that are in the park in spring.

Where: Barbes, 376 9th Street
What: The the youngest old-school blues guitarist and singer you’ve ever seen is in the middle of a month-long residency here, so catch her while you can!

Retha Powers: Black Women’s Voices From Ancient Times To Now
When: Sunday, March 23, 1pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: In honor of Women’s History Month, he editor of Bartlett’s Familiar Black Quotations shares sayings from women of African descent.
