Park Slope Open House Picks

If you’re in the market for a new home, we’ve picked some of the most promising options that are having open houses this weekend, in a range of prices. What do you think of them?

174 Garfield Place, between 6th & 7th Aves
Open House: Sunday, October 14, 3-5pm
If you’re looking for a big space for your family that still has a rental opportunity, this is it. The 4-story home has an owner’s triplex, a garden rental and windowed cellar (which you don’t see too often). It’s in beautiful shape, with a lot of updated finishes that manage to work with what’s left of some original details. Listed by Sotheby’s for $3,990,000, it’s got one of the highest price tags in the area at the moment, but it looks like you can move right in and not have to do a thing except unpack.

309 2nd Street #1D, between 4th & 5th Aves
Open House: Saturday, October 13, 2:30-3:30pm
If you don’t care about historical details and would prefer a new-build, this 1-bed, 1.5-bath condo could be for you. It’s got 1,396 square feet, which includes a private terrace. It’s on a low floor, but there’s a common roof deck, so you can enjoy some views up there with your neighbors. The asking price of $962,500, with common charges of $775.68 as listed by Halstead, is tempered slightly by the fact that there’s a 25-year tax abatement.

714 Sackett Street #1F, between 4th & 5th Aves
Open House: Sunday, October 14, 12-1:30pm
This is another 1-bed, 1.5-bath duplex condo, just a few blocks from the one on 2nd St. Listed by Brown Harris Stevens, the square footage is way less than that other one, at 922, and the asking price reflects that, at $520,000 with a $308 common charge. However, the sponsor is offering to pay the common charges for 12 months.

925 Union Street #1F, between 8th Ave & PPW
Open House: Sunday, October 14, 3-4pm
The proximity to Prospect Park, Grand Army Plaza and everything else that’s right there can’t be beat. This studio (pictured above) has a built-in loft bed with a desk space underneath that can stay if you want it, and the rest of the co-op apartment has some lovely original details. Though the kitchen is under 6 feet wide, you still get a dishwasher, which is more than some people can say. Listed by Prudential Douglas Elliman for $255,000, with a $479 maintenance.
