Park Slope Boy Steals Show With Hilarious Flex Cam Performance
“I’m an internet star,” 5-year-old Nolan Bennett declared on Sunday, and after watching his impressive turn on the New York Knicks Jumbotron, we have to agree with him.
The Park Slope kindergartener and his dad were enjoying Sunday’s game against the Lakers, when a cameraman asked if Nolan would participate in the Flex Cam, a timeout segment where fans flex their muscles for the Jumbotron.
“He’s seen all sorts of fan interaction on the Jumbotron,” mom Hillary explained, “and was more than willing to be in the spotlight and get the Knicks fans fired up.”
Nolan certainly took full advantage of that spotlight. As soon as he realized that his picture was on the big screen, he ripped off his t-shirt, and flexed some serious muscle. Madison Square Garden erupted in cheers, and a star was born.
Walt Frazier and Mike Breen commented on Nolan during the game’s live broadcast, and fans even began asking for his autograph.
Better still, his karate instructor at Amerikick Park Slope spotted the video on YouTube, and gave Nolan a blue stripe on his belt.
“Nolan is a fierce and very talented young man who never gives up on a goal regardless of the difficulty,” Sensei Ricky Taylor said via email. “This boy is meant for great things.”
