Park Optics Coming To Former Primo Atto Space On 5th Avenue
After years of being vacant, the storefront at 337 5th Avenue, on the corner of 4th Street, will soon be open once again — as an eyeglass store.
Neighbor Matt Kaplan sent us this pic of the coming soon sign for Park Optics that recently went up, along with construction fencing, around the prime corner space located just across the street from JJ Byrne Playground. Permits to renovate the interior and exterior of the space were approved by the Department of Buildings last month.
And a fairly big renovation it will be, to transform what was most recently a restaurant space into a retail eyeglass operation. The Italian restaurant Primo Atto was the last business to operate in this spot, and it closed at the end of 2009.
While we’re certainly happy to see something finally going into this space, do you think an eyeglass store is needed in this area, when there are already several in the neighborhood?
