If you’re a parent of an elementary-aged student, you know — or have heard — how frustrating and confusing the middle school admissions process can be. Before the process starts over once again next year, local leaders are hoping to get a conversation going about the issues to find out what changes the community thinks are needed.

Tomorrow, Councilmembers Brad Lander, Carlos Menchaca Menchaca, and Stephen Levin are joining with the District 15 Community Education Council, and D15 Superintendent Anita Skop, for a panel discussion and public forum called Reimagining the Middle School Admissions Process in District 15.

“This will not be a ‘how-to’ session about the application process – but rather a community conversation and panel about what changes parents, educators, and students believe are needed to the process itself,” writes Lander.

You’ll hear about the current process and what work is being done to make it better, plus you’ll be able to provide your own feedback and ideas.

The community is welcome to join the discussion at John Jay Campus auditorium at 237 7th Avenue on Wednesday, May 27 from 6:30-8:30pm.
