Organic Deli Headed To Sheepshead Bay Road Gets A Name: Golden Gourmet
Things are moving along at 1501-A Sheepshead Bay Road, where we previously announced an organic kitchenette would be moving in. Signage went up this week, revealing the name: Golden Gourmet Deli and Grill.
We reported the planned business in early April, saying that it would serve coffee, breakfast and organic foods like granola bars. The signage backs that up, touting “organic products,” alongside hot sandwiches, tobacco and hookah.
A vent for the kitchen’s grill has been installed at the eastern end of the property, so hopefully it’ll blow out some nice smells to overpower the trash and urine stench that has plagued the corner since the florist left years ago.
Meanwhile, Portokali, the planned Turkish-owned organic market a few doors away at 1509 Sheepshead Bay Road is also making progress.
They’ve added a nice awning, and neighbors report that they’ve spotted some deliveries being made. We got a glimpse of some shelving when the door was left slightly open a few days ago, and it looks like it’s almost ready for showtime.
