Oh, G: Weekend MTA Service Changes In Brooklyn
Weekend warriors, get ready for the now-regular lineup of weekend service changes on the subway system. And the star of this weekend’s show: the G train!
There will be no G train service between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Ave, and service will operate in two sections —
- Between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs, and
- Between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn, every 20 minutes.
A and F trains provide alternate service from 11:30pm on Friday, July 7 to 5am on Monday, July 10 (same goes for next weekend).
There will be no G service at Bergen, Carroll, Smith-9 Sts, 4 Av-9 St, 7 Av, 15 St-Prospect Park, Fort Hamilton Pkwy, and Church Ave. Instead, take the F.
• Transfer between A and G trains at Hoyt-Schermerhorn.
• Transfer between A and F trains at Jay St-MetroTech.
More changes you need to know before making your weekend plans in Brooklyn:
A and C: Switcheroo
A and C trains run via the F in both directions between W 4 St and Jay St-MetroTech,
E and J trains provide alternate service.
D Train: Hot, steamy nights
Coney Island-bound D trains run express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 36 St, due to station enhancements between 11:45 PM on Friday, July 7 to 6:30 AM on Sunday, July 9, then again from 11:45 PM Sunday, July 9 to 5 AM Monday, July 10.
N Train: All weekend long
Coney Island-bound N trains run express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 59 St, due to station enhancements between 11:45 PM on Friday, July 7 to 6:30 AM on Sun, July 9 and then again from 11:45 PM Sun, July 9 to 5 AM Mon, July 10.
R Train: mostly following the N
Bay Ridge-bound R trains run express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 59 St, due to station enhancements, from 11:45 PM Friday, July 7 to 5 AM Monday, July 10.
J Train: Weekend skipping
Jamaica Center-bound trains skip Hewes St, Lorimer St, and Flushing Ave, and
Brooklyn-bound M trains skip Hewes St, Lorimer St, and Flushing Ave, between 5:45 AM on Saturday, July 8 to 8 PM on Sunday, July 9.
M Train: the trend continues
No M trains between Myrtle Ave and Metropolitan Ave, take the L train and free shuttle buses instead. All times from Saturday, July 1 until September 2017

- Manhattan-bound F trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy, and Avenue I, due to station rehabilitation, all times until early 2018.
To these stations, take the Manhattan-bound F to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-bound F. From these stations, take a Coney Island-bound F to Kings Hwy or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound F. - D trains skip Prospect Av in both directions, due to station enhancements, all times until Fall 2017. To/from this station, use the nearby 4 Av-9 St F/G/R or 25 St R stations via B37 and B63 local buses.
