NYPD Officer Found Dead in Bushwick Suicide

BUSHWICK – An off-duty NYPD officer committed suicide yesterday in Bushwick, possibly after a domestic dispute.

Police responded to a 911 call to assist a police officer at 12:37 pm on Monday, February 26.

The officer in question was found on the floor of her Troutman Street residence with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, confirmed the NYPD. The 24-year old woman was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

“This is the type of thing you would never think happens just because of who they were or how they were on the block,” one neighbor the Daily News. Others speculated the cause to be the result of a domestic dispute.

“I knew it when I heard that it had to be something relationship related,” said another neighbor. “That’s the only thing that might drive someone to do that.”

The name of the deceased has yet to be released, pending family notification.

Earlier this month, an NYPD officer in Williamsburg attempted suicide, shooting himself in the chest while parked in a car at Wythe Avenue and Williamsburg Street.
