Throughout the summer, the Department of Transportation has deployed fleets of massive trucks to Ditmas streets for road resurfacing projects.

Regular road resurfacing, which is a smaller, cheaper project than entire road reconstruction, replaces the top layer of asphalt pavement to fix issues like “potholes, cracking, hummocks, bumps and patches of street cuts” leftover from utility work, said the DOT.

Check out the full road resurfacing schedule for this week, or see our list below for the streets located within Community Board 14. The DOT posts temporary ‘No Parking’ signs on the street, so be prepared to move your cars before these dates.

Monday, August 22: Foster Avenue, between East 12th Street and Ocean Avenue.

Thursday, August 25 & Friday, August 26: East 24th Street, between Foster Avenue and Glenwood Road.

Friday, August 26: Tilden Avenue between Flatbush Avenue and Bedford Avenue.

Also Friday, August 26: Regent Place between Ocean Avenue and Flatbush Avenue.

[Updated 8/24] The DOT website also states that resurfacing, which includes milling and pavement, takes less than a month to complete. Check out a snapshot of previous summer 2016 resurfaced roads within CB 14:

  • In June, Ocean Avenue was resurfaced from Foster Avenue to Avenue K. The milling process began on on June 28, and the final pavement ended on July 22.

Want to request an inspection and resurfacing for your street? Check to see when the last resurfacing was here, and fill out a request here. You can also make a request through Community Board 14 — streets may be prioritized in consultation with CBs and elected officials, says the DOT, so this may be a shortcut, depending on the schedule of planned utility work and available funding.
