New York City Beer Week 2017: Brooklyn Picks

New York City Beer Week kicked off this past weekend with a sold-out opening night bash at the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint. Don’t fret if you missed out, there are hundreds of events planned around the city for the 8-day celebration.

The suds-soaked festivities wrap up March 5th with the second annual Ruppert’s Cup Awards, honoring the top craft bars, bartenders, and breweries.

FEATURED EVENTS
7th Annual NYC Brewer’s Choice
When: Wednesday, March 1st, 6 to 9:30pm
Where: Food Science Academy of Long Island University, One University Plaza (entrance at corner of Flatbush and DeKalb), Fort Greene
What: 40 New York State breweries and 10 out-of-state guests will serve over 40 beers, many made specially for this event. Over a dozen food purveyors will also be on hand presenting chef’s tables offering barbecue, brisket, cheeses, chocolates, pretzels, a raw bar, and more.

2nd Annual Ruppert’s Cup Awards
When: Saturday, March 4th, 12pm to 3:00pm
Where: Barcade, 388 Union Avenue, Williamsburg
What: This event honoring the best bars, bartenders and breweries will feature special collaboration beers, food trucks, and brewers from around the region. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Brewers Guild to further the community of local brewers.
How Much: No cover, pay as you go

BREWERY EVENTS
Can’t Get Enough Grimm, Grimm, Grimm!
When: Monday, February 27th, 5 to 11pm
Where: St. Gambrinus Beer Shoppe, 533 Atlantic Avenue, Boerum Hill
What: Enjoy a lineup of 10 Grimm Artisanal Ales on tap

Mardi Gras Mambo
When: Tuesday, February 28th, 7pm to 2am
Where: Bar Chord, 1008 Cortelyou Road, Ditmas Park
What: Celebrate Mardi Gras with live music, food, and beer specials from Sixpoint Brewery

Coney Island Tap Takeover
When: Wednesday, March 1st, 8 to 11pm
Where: Angry Wade’s, 224 Smith Street, Cobble Hill
What: Coney Island Brewery takes over the taps at this Cobble Hill spot with a lineup of special release beers and giveaways

Trivia Night & Happy Hour
When: Wednesday, March 1st, 7 to 9pm
Where: The Roof at Whole Foods Market, 214 3rd Street, Gowanus
What: Show off your trivia knowledge while enjoying 16 different taps at this rooftop event

Hopped in New York: From Plant to Pint, A Farmer Brewer Panel
When: Thursday, March 2nd, 7 to 8pm
Where: Strong Rope Brewery, 574A President Street, Gowanus
What: Hops farmers from around New York State will discuss the challenges and rewards of growing locally and what that means for your beer

LIC Beer Project at Bar Great Harry
