New Interactive Map Shows Area Grocery Store Violations

The New York World recently used data collected from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets‘ survey of every grocery store in the state from 2008-2013 to make a map searchable by zip code–and it looks like most of South Slope comes out pretty clean.

Zip codes 11215 and 11232 both show a handful of critical deficiencies from the study, but most of them (with the exception of C-Town at 4th Avenue and 25th Street) were from 2011 or earlier. Stores mentioned in the organization’s findings include:

C-Town (327 9th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenue): 1 citations
Pathmark (1-37 12th Street, Gowanus): 1 citation
Met Foods (595 5th Avenue, between 16th Street and Prospect Avenue): 6 citations
C-Town (760 4th Avenue at 25th Street): 11 citations

Play around with the map, and click on each store that pops up to learn more about their critical deficiencies over the past five years.

Does this reflect your experiences at supermarkets in the neighborhood, or are you surprised with the results?
