The hotel’s interiors were designed by New York’s SAVVY Studio and were inspired by Japanese design and the neighborhood’s industrial history. Each room was created to be “comfortably small,” fitted out with “custom furniture that makes the room feel bigger.”

Rooms start at $79 for weeknights and $99 for weekends.

Around the corner at 179 4th Avenue (between Degraw and Sackett Streets), permits have been filed to replace the four-story building with a new, 11-story, mixed-use development, New York YIMBY reports.

Issac & Stern Architects will design the 120-foot-tall structure which will feature 865 square feet of ground-floor commercial/retail space and 280 square feet for a doctor’s office.

Twenty-three apartments are planned for the site, averaging approximately 638 square feet each, indicating rental units, according to YIMBY. Amenities will include bicycle storage, residential storage, and a fitness center. The estimated completion date for the project has not been announced yet.
