[Update: 8/11: Parade Cafe grand opening planned for tomorrow, Friday August 12! Regular hours are 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. The breakfast menu includes croissants, quiche, and avocado toast; switching to French-inspired sandwiches and salads after 11am.]

A new cafe in-progress was spotted today at 622 Caton Avenue, in the location once occupied by the Caton Chemist shop, adjacent to 620 On Caton Pizza (noticing a pattern here—maybe they should rename to “Caton Parade” cafe?)

Parade Cafe will be serving a lovely combination of french sandwiches and La Colombe Coffee.

The owners of the new cafe are not strangers to the restaurant business — Gregory Tetaud is an owner at Le Paddock French Bistro in Windsor Terrace, and his partner Dominic is a manager at Jole Cantina in Carroll Gardens.

Tetaud moved to Kensington about 9 years ago with his wife, Angela, who noticed that there’s been nothing new on this block for a long time.

The owners were working inside today, and while they weren’t quite ready for photographs — I can tell you that it already looks elegant; blocks of wood paneling and soft lighting cast by hanging chandeliers, with plans for a few small tables and window seating.

Parade Cafe is on track to open next month, and we will keep readers updated with more details as they come in.
