Neighbor Killed Over Parking (UPDATED)

GEORGETOWN — A neighbor was stabbed to death outside his home shortly before midnight last night, allegedly over a parking spot.

UPDATE: Police have arrested and charged Canarsie resident Jean-Paul Djems, 41, with manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The assailants, who the police believe were driving a Gray Volkswagen Jetta with TLC plates, had blocked the homeowners driveway, leading to the altercation, neighbors told CBS.

Police responded on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at approximately 11:26 pm to a 911 call of an assault in progress in front of 1253 East 73 Street.

They found the 23 year old Dahan Omari with a stab wound to his chest, and his 29 year old brother with a stab wound to the left arm. Both victims were taken to Beth Israel Hospital, where the younger Mr Dahan was pronounced deceased.

Last night’s fatal stabbing is not the first tragedy to strike the Dahan family in recent years, Vos Iz Neias reports. “Omari Dahan’s father, Shlomo Dahan, and his then 23 year old brother Harel Dahan, died in 2009 when they were overcome by toxic fumes while cleaning a well at a waste transfer station in Queens” [VIN]

Investigation is ongoing.
