Murrow Student Paper Wins Best High School Newspaper in NYC Award

The Murrow Network, Edward R. Murrow High School’s school newspaper, won several awards including “Best Overall Print Newspaper in New York City” at this month’s Newsies! awards at Baruch College, reports Sheepshead Bites. Journalists from various local media outlets judged the competition.

Several individual Murrow students won awards as well.

• In the National/World News category, Sasha Williams won top honors for her story Packing Up Help.
• In Community News, Adelina Zhang won top honors for Safety After Stabbing.
• In School News, Zalika Cuffy-Scott won the runner-up prize for Prices Pack a Punch for No Free Lunch.

Midwood High School’s Argus newspaper picked up a pair of runner-up prizes in Headline Writing and Lede Writing.
