Morning Crime Blotter: Bird Thieves, Would-Be Purse-Snatchers and More

WILLIAMSBURG Police are looking the man who stole a Blue Quaker bird from the Petland store at 92 Graham Avenue and Seigel Street.

Around 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 5, the bird thief entered the exotic bird cage at the pet store, using a paper towel wrapped around his hand to grab his prey, which can be seen on surveillance video below:

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man, 25 to 35 years old. He was last seen wearing a gray hoody, black jacket and blue jeans.

BUSHWICK – A would-be purse snatcher knocked down and dragged a 54-year old woman earlier this week as he attempted to steal her purse in Bushwick.

Just after 9:00 pm on Monday, December 4, the suspect approached his victim from behind at 9A Granite Street, near Broadway, attempting to take her purse, police said. The woman held on to her bag and the attacker fled the location on foot.

Police described the suspect as a 25-year old man with a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, multi-colored hoodie, blue jeans and red & white Jordans.

EAST NEW YORK – Police are looking for a trio of burglars who robbed a house at 118 Pennsylvania Avenue, on the border of East New York and Cypress Hills.

The men gained entry to the house at midnight on Thursday, November 16, forcing open the front door, said police. Once inside, they stole 3 televisions and 12 bags of clothing. Adding insult to injury, they even stole the alarm system from the building.

Police describe the suspects as three men in dark clothing, who fled the scene in a dark colored SUV.

CYPRESS HILLS – Three men are wanted in connection with the violent robbery of a 26-year old man near Pine and Fulton Streets in later October.

On October 22, just after midnight, the three attackers approached their victim from behind, striking the man in the back of the head, said police. They proceeded to punch and kick him while one of the robbers stole the victim’s phone.

The trio ran northbound on Pine street after the crime. Police described the suspects as three black men: two in all-black clothing and the third in a white shirt, blue jeans and gray sneakers, who can be seen on surveillance video below:
