More Residents Complain of Angry Campaign Calls for Jacobs, But Who’s Really Calling?
We heard from a couple of neighbors last night that they’d received multiple belligerent calls on behalf of Assemblywoman Rhoda Jacobs–which sound a lot like the call Nathan Thompson got last week. And once again, Jacobs’ office does not believe they’re coming from their calling center.
Neighbor Lela says that she got a a string of calls a few days ago, and asked to not be called again because she works for a newspaper and can’t answer their questions. And this is what she says happened last night:
Tonight I have received five calls in two hours from “Unknown.” I picked up the fifth call and when the man on the other end said he was with the Jacobs campaign and could he ask me a question, I explained again that I couldn’t answer due to my job and please not to call again.
He said “OK, but here’s the question.” I repeated myself and he said, “Well I’d stop calling if you’ll stop talking. Just answer my question.”
This is ridiculous and, frankly, a little alarming. Why the strong-arming? Most campaigns have been very polite to me when I say I can’t speak with them or take literature but this one is very belligerent and reflects VERY poorly on Rhoda Jacobs.
The staff at Jacobs’ campaign headquarters today was once again baffled by these reports, and had already spoken with Lela about these calls.
“We did not have a male making calls last night, so we know for certain that call did not come from our call center,” Melanie Hirsch, head of staff at Jacobs’ office, told us this afternoon. “Obviously it would not benefit the campaign to so. And that’s just not how the Assemblywoman operates on a daily basis.”
Another neighbor says he also got multiple calls with a survey asking if he would vote for Jacobs, and Hirsch said she would look into those calls as well.
