A four-alarm fire swept through three homes in Mill Basin yesterday afternoon, injuring six firefighters.

The fire began at 2220 National Drive at approximately 2:19pm, spreading to the house next door and scorching a third home before firefighters brought it under control at approximately 5pm, according to reports.

The area was overrun by first responders, including 39 units and 168 firefighters and medics.

The injured firefighters were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

CBS reports that two of the homes were completely destroyed.

Fire boats assisted in squelching the flames at the waterfront homes, but the battle was hampered by ice in the water.

No one was inside any of the homes at the time of the fire, and the cause is still under investigation.
