This Saturday, December 15 at 5:30pm, Bangladeshi immigrants, unions, community groups, New York low wage workers, and elected officials will gather at the corner of Church Ave and McDonald for a memorial for workers who were killed in a factory fire in late November. From Councilmember Brad Lander:

Members of Brooklyn’s Bangladeshi immigrant community will join with community allies for a Saturday memorial for the 112 workers killed in last month’s fire at a Bangladeshi garment factory. The event will feature performances from Bangladeshi artists and speeches from Bangladeshi leaders, unions, community groups, New York low wage workers, and elected officials.
After the memorial, participants plan to join a rally at the Golden Farm Supermarket (329 Church Avenue), the site of two years of labor organizing for better pay and working conditions.
