Meeting Tomorrow About New Caton Ave School Construction
The New York City School Construction Authority is going to begin construction soon on PS/IS 437, a new elementary and middle school at 701 Caton Avenue, near East 7th Street. It’s expected to be completed in 2015, and it will serve approximately 750 students in Community School District 15.
Most of our area is in District 22, but some of you may be in 15–and some of you may live nearby the construction site, which is that big empty lot across the street from J&L Landscaping and Shenanigans–so you might be interested in a meeting tomorrow, August 14 at 6:30pm at the Windsor Terrace Library on East 5th St at Fort Hamilton Pkwy. The SCA will be available to talk about the project and their plans to minimize the project’s impact on the new school’s neighbors.
If you’ve got questions about the construction, the traffic implications, etc., this is your opportunity to bring them up with the SCA, and with Council Member Brad Lander, who will also be on hand.
