Meet The Nabe’s Summer Interns
Good afternoon, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
Each summer The Nabe welcomes a new crop of interns, not to do menial work, but to actually go into the community and find the stories that matter to you. Now that they’ve had a few weeks to get acclimated to the nabe, they’re chomping at the bit to find more news.
Here’s a little more about the young interns who signed on to brave heat waves and hot sidewalks during another simmering Brooklyn summer. And don’t forget to send them your story ideas by emailing TheNabe@TheNabe.me.
Anna Teregulova was born in the big industrial city of Chelyabinsk, Russia, where she graduated from the State University with a degree in journalism. Right now she’s continuing her education at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, working on her visual storytelling and production skills. Here at The Nabe, she’s specializing in business and economic reporting.
When she has free time she listens to electro house music and even manages to go to a handful of music festivals, such as Ultra, Electric Zoo or EDC. She also considers herself a fun and outgoing person with a great of humor, so don’t be afraid to say hello to her.
Jason Bisnoff a native of Long Island resident who is reporting on sports for The Nabe this summer. He has been accepted into the CUNY Graduate school of Journalism’s Class of 2014, a spot he hopes will help him become a more polished journalist.
He considers himself to be a huge sports and music fan. He also has a major interest in Brooklyn’s hip-hop scene, so if you hear a local beat that’s fresh, don’t forget to let him know.
Philippe Theise started writing for his high school newspaper in the ’90s, but only truly became entrenched in journalism as a community reporter in North Brooklyn a few years ago. He is a master’s student at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism who enjoys riding his bike along the Silk Road — i.e., Kent and Flushing Avenues — that connects his Greenpoint home to Clinton Hill and Fort Greene.
While he’s here this summer, he’s on the lookout for arts and culture stories. If you have a juicy lead on a gallery opening or just a local artist that needs some spotlight, let him know.
Lindsay Christ covers the transportation beat for The Nabe. A lifelong commuter, she knows that in life, half the battle is getting there. Unless it’s rush hour. Then the entire battle is getting there.
She is one incoming student in the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism’s Class of 2014 who couldn’t wait for classes to begin, so she decided to report for us. In addition to telling community stories, she loves hearing potential story ideas from people who stop her on the sidewalk.
Antonia Massa is another incoming student in the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism’s Class of 2014. A recent Vassar grad, she’ll cover local health and science stories for The Nabe.
She may be fresh out of her undergrad, but she’s written for news outlets including Reuters, USA TODAY College and the Poughkeepsie Journal. She also has the same birthday as local rap legend Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. Notorious BIG.
Emily Field is a graduate student at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, concentrating on urban reporting and multimedia. Before coming to journalism school, she worked in non-profit communications and wrote software manuals. While she’s here at The Nabe she’ll be our general assignment reporter, covering everything from breaking crime to music festivals.
She grew up in New England and has lived in New York City for seven years. When not out reporting, she’s usually hanging out with her dog, Oliver, or kicking back with a good mystery novel.
