March in Ditmas Park’s Halloween Parades

Halloween is coming once again to Ditmas Park, which means it’s time to plan for our two annual parades at either end of the neighborhood. And yes, they both take place on the actual date of Halloween (not the weekend before or after), which this year is Wednesday, October 31.

Closer to the park, the Prospect Park South Halloween Parade (pictured above) gathers early at 5 p.m. on the corner of Albemarle and Westminster Roads. It’s grown to be quite large, so remember that some streets will be closed around this time. Of course, there will be loads of treats on hand. The parade starts at 5:30 p.m.

A little later, the annual West Midwood Halloween Parade begins to gather at 6 p.m. on the dead end by Glenwood and Rugby Roads. There will be apple juice and plenty of treats for the children. Parents are asked to bring cookies, muffins and other baked treats to make this the best celebration it can be. The parade itself starts around 6:15 to 6:30 p.m. with musical accompaniment.

Now the most important question of all is who will have the best haunted house?
