Man’s Car, Wallet, And Cellphone Stolen After He’s Choked Unconscious At Brooklyn Navy Yard

FORT GREENE – Police are searching for a man who choked a 62-year-old inside a restroom at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and then robbed him after the victim passed out.

At approximately 10:20pm on Thursday, September 7, the suspect snuck up on the male victim as he entered a restroom in a service building at 63 Flushing Avenue and placed him in a chokehold. The victim struggled with the suspect but eventually lost consciousness, the police say.

When the victim woke up, the attacker was gone along with the victim’s cellphone and keys. The victim’s 2013 Ford Escape had also been stolen from the parking lot, according to police.

By tracking the victim’s stolen cellphone, the police were able to locate his car which was left near 161 South Elliott Place, the NYPD report. The victim’s cellphone was inside the car, however his wallet, which he left in the vehicle, was stolen.

The victim works as a facilities manager at the Navy Yard, according to the New York Daily News. He sustained minor injuries from the incident and refused medical attention.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 5′ 8″ tall with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a tan baseball hat, a red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black sneakers.
