Police are looking to track down a man that they say posed as interested customer of Kings Plaza’s Kay Jewelers, then swiped two engagement rings and dashed out the door.

The theft happened at 10:30am on Wednesday, April 15 at the 5100 Avenue U mall. The alleged thief began chatting up a clerk, asking to see an engagement ring. While he looked at it, the clerk pulled another engagement ring out of the case. The suspect grabbed both rings from her and ran off.

The suspect’s image was caught on surveillance camera. He is a black male, approximately 5’1″ tall and weighing 160 pounds.

A similar theft took place at the mall’s Michael Matthew’s Jewelers in February 2014, when a man used a hammer to smash a display case, then filled a bag with loot. He ran off, flashing a gun to those who gave chase.
