Man Shot In The Head On Crooke Avenue, Near Prospect Park’s Parade Grounds, Wednesday Night

18

We have terrible news: a 22-year-old man was shot in the head at 81 Crooke Avenue, between St. Paul’s Place and Ocean Avenue, around 10:40pm Wednesday night, and is now in critical condition at Kings County Hospital, police told us this morning.

Police have made no arrest yet in connection to this crime, and the investigation is ongoing, the NYPD said.

Last night’s incident follows another shooting that also occurred near the Parade Grounds in mid-May, when a 38-year-old woman and 14-year-old girl were shot. A 14-year-old boy was charged  in that shooting, police said.

The NYPD has been focusing more of their attention on the Parade Grounds recently, including placing a watchtower in the area and stationing additional officers there.

  1. Does anyone know what happened outside the Food Coop last night around 10? I got off the subway and there were a ton of cops and paramedics.

  2. I live one block over, facing Crooke, and heard the shots – there were about 8-10. Hoping for the best recovery.

  3. We also heard 8-10 shots. We could see the paramedics and police pull up to 85 Crooke Avenue near St. Paul. Very scary.

  4. Two guys were attacked by some people with baseball bats on Church Ave. From what I could gather, the attackers jumped out of a car.

  5. And ya’ll think Michelle Williams is actually going to live here! This blog deletes my comments, but Williams is moving here for one reason: to finish gentrifying the neighborhood and sell that house for major profit (my guess is that she wants $5million for it when she’s done). She’s done it twice before, in Redhook and Boerum Hill. Church Avenue isn’t ready for Michelle Williams 🙂

  6. Yea me too. I’m hoping the gang banger/ drug dealer gets his boo boo fixed so he can be out terrorizing the neighborhood soon!

  7. There’s a huge difference between Marlborogh and Albermarle and 85 Crooke Avenue. Most of the crimes near the Parade grounds involve criminals shooting other criminals.
Unfortunately, they aren’t marksmen and don’t have the precision of organized crime hit men. The money spent on caring for the wounded, prosecuting them and jailing them is what concerns me the most. Live by the sword – die by the sword, but please not at the taxpayers’ expense.

  8. Grow up Doug and get your head outta your @$$! What did you think happen? Another poor alter boy hit by a stray bullet going to church?

  9. Agreed that MONEY is the concern. And prices in this neighborhood will skyrocket and the “different” side will feel it the most. Williams doesn’t care. Cha-chinggggg

  10. Um, I was just updating the news story without any sort of opinion, but you decided to add your own. But have fun being a lunatic.

  11. vic·tim
    ˈviktəm/
    noun
a person harmed, injured, or killed as a result of a crime, accident, or other event or action.

  12. I’ll stick with victim. Thanks. Also, you know what they say about making assumptions, and you seemed to jumped to many based just on an article with scant details of a shooting.
