  1. It’s so awful. I haven’t gotten any more news yet – have been calling the police throughout the day and will definitely let you know as soon as I hear anything.

  2. Saw this on News 12 and the police said they’re looking for a male with blue jeans and a white t-shirt. With that vivid description, I’m sure an arrest is bound to happen.

  3. The police still had Cortelyou loved off East of Flatbush at 4:15 this afternoon. It’s doubtful that the victim and shooter didn’t know each other. He probably wasn’t a choir boy out to buy a quart of milk for his mother. All shootings are tragic, but it’s rare for an innocent bystander to be shot.

  4. They need to clean up these neighborhood . If there is an apartment building. You will find young men standing or sitting on the stoop during the day and especially at night when hard working people are trying to sleep. Try calling 311 what a joke.

  5. WUT? Yeah, let’s raze all the apartment buildings. Because brown people live there, and we need to “clean” the neighborhood.

Go back to the hole you crawled out of.

  6. We responsible adult “brown people” are frequently more upset by bthe behavior of those youths than the white hipsters are.

  7. Did it happen near the Sears building? It’s quiet during the day and it’s a ghost town at night. If that’s the case, then I’m not surprised. In all likelihood, the victim knew the shooter and they probably had beef and the shooter decided to shoot rather than talk things out. Remember, that part of Flatbush still has an ongoing gang problem and what we can hope for is police to break up the gangs the congregate in certain corners and please, put up some cameras.

  8. Around the corner from Sears.

There is a problem with that stretch. Police don’t give a shit because it keeps happening. The violence will only lead to more closer and closer to your homes.

  9. Rare exception to the rule? GUNS ARE ILLEGALLY ON THE STREET IN THE POSSESSION OF TEENAGERS AND YOU THINK WITH ALL OF THEIR PRACTICE THAT THEY ARE A GOOD ENOUGH SHOT NOT TO MISS EVERY TIME? Pathetic.

  10. We need the Crown Heights equivalent of S.O.S right here. Bed-Stuy has one. Brownsville has violent interrupters. Why can’t we? I think it’s long overdue. Anything to reduce the number of young men becoming statistics.

  11. Are you sure it wasn’t fireworks or a car backfiring?
..I hope there weren’t more that went unreported.

  12. This is quite scary, I live right around the corner on Clarendon and Bedford. I always try to avoid walking down that stretch of Cortelyou as it seems rather sketchy. Don’t get me wrong, I am not afraid of the neighborhood and quite like living over here, but something about that stretch seems off.

  13. Is there an update on the victim? Any suspects? I live very close to the address. It feels like a silent (not so silent) war is going on and im predicting that there’s more to come.

  14. I live on Cortelyou rd, and just yesterday night there was a big fight on East 21 street, and someone shot a gun. The cops came to search for shells and the ambulance came moments after – I don’t know if anyone was hurt though. This was one block away from that other shooting a few days ago. This gun violence has to stop.

  15. Yesterday – another shooting between Beverly rd and Cortelyou rd, on East 21 in the morning. What’s going on in Flatbush? It seems like there is a war going on around the area
