Orthodox Drug Dealers Who Closed Shop For Shabbat Busted By Cops
A local gang of Sheepshead Bay drug dealers were busted recently, and in a bizarre twist, investigators learned that the pushers were observant Jews who wouldn’t serve clients during Shabbat. The New York Daily News is reporting that the the religious dealers slung heroin, cocaine and other narcotics from their headquarters on Bedford Avenue.
The Daily News fingered the people were named in the criminal indictment:
The indictment names David Gerowitz, 38, Philip Mandel, 26, Eduard Sorin, 38, Jack Zaibak, 25, and Jack Zibak, 28.
A previous indictment charged them and Aaron Dombroff, 30, with criminal sale of a controlled substance. Sorin, Zaibak and Gerowitz, live at the Bedford Ave. apartment.
According to court documents, these guys allegedly sent out mass text messages to their client base informing them that they would not be available to sell drugs after sundown on Friday or before sundown on Saturday.
“We are closing 7:30 on the dot and we will reopen saturday 8:15 so if u need anything you have 45mins to get what you want,” read one text message sent out this past April.
In the NYPD raid that took place on April 20, and police seized 23,000 oxycodone pills valued at $460,000. They also recovered a sawed-off shotgun.
A New York Post report also noted that the dealers had a small amount of cocaine, Xanax, Suboxone, Klonopin and 900 glassines of heroin.
Neighbor Andrew Katz, 29, expressed no shock when he learned of the arrests.
“I kind of figured that was going on with the all people in and out of the apartment,” Katz told the Daily News. “What else could they be doing in there?”
