Long Island University Brooklyn and the LIU Blackbirds invite local families to stop by this Saturday to check out the activities offered at this summer’s LIU Children’s Academy and to stick around for a free skills clinic lead by LIU Brooklyn’s women’s basketball team.

The summer faculty will be previewing the activities available this summer, with demo workshops on how to make your own comic books or video games, learning American Sign Language, or taking a class in hip hop. The open house will take place from 11am to 10 p.m. in the lobby of the Pratt Building at 1 University Plaza. The Children’s Academy is open for kids ages 3 to 12 and if you sign up this Saturday, you can save up to $150 on the summer fun. For more information, check out www.liu.edu/childrensacademy or call (718) 488-1364 or (718) 488-1366.

But the fun doesn’t stop there: Every family that attends the open house will receive free tickets to the women’s basketball game that afternoon at 2 p.m. The LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds will take on the Bryant University Bulldogs before showing the kids a trick or two on the court at a free clinic for children ages 8 to 13. If your kids are ready to learn how to shoot hoops like the Blackbirds, make sure to RSVP to Greg Fox at gfox@liu.edu and remember to bring their sneakers.
