Baby Severely Beaten On Father’s Day By Her Own Father, Cops Say
16-month-old Nylah Lewis is fighting for her life after being beaten by her 18-year-old dad on Father’s Day in Coney Island, authorities said.
According to authorities, the little girl’s mother, Tammy Lewis, arrived at her home on West 32nd Street and discovered her child unconscious, on Sunday, June 18.
She tried to call 911 but was assaulted by Nylah’s father, Shaquan Taylor, who was allegedly watching the baby. Taylor fled the scene but was apprehended by officers, the NYPD confirms.
The young girl was taken to Coney Island Hospital and was then transferred to Maimonides where authorities say she is in critical condition with a fractured skull.
Taylor is being charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child and two counts of assault. He has five previous arrests, reports the Daily News, including a sexual misconduct charge against Tammy Lewis, who was 14 at the time.
