Learn How To Organize Neighbors For Emergency Response
When Hurricane Sandy hit, we saw neighbors leap into action to help people in need around the city. We’re hopeful we never see an emergency like that again, but it never hurts to be prepared, and there’s a great training opportunity coming up next week to help with that.
The free Organizing Neighborhoods for Emergency Response Training course is taking place on Tuesday, September 23 from 12:30-8pm at the Central Library at 10 Grand Army Plaza, and there are currently four slots left.
Through lecture, discussion, and hands-on activities, the course will cover how to design and development of an emergency management program plan to help organize a community and volunteers, and show strategies that can help increase the response and recovery resiliency of a community when hit by a disaster.
Certification will be awarded upon completion of the course, and refreshments will be served.
