Lacrosse Club Forming, Free Clinic Next Week

The Brooklyn Battery Lacrosse Club is forming teams this fall in the neighborhood, and they’re going to have their base of operations out of the Flatbush YMCA at 1401 Flatbush Ave.

To show interested kids what they’re all about, they’re having a free clinic at the Flatbush Y on Saturday, July 28 from 12-2pm. Boys and girls ages 5-15 are welcome. Please register online here.

From neighbor Dave Herman, who is working with the club:

The coaches are very experienced and have been running other lacrosse programs and have made a decision to reach out to the communities in Brooklyn where lacrosse has never been seen. That translates to a great opportunity for young athletes in the area to experience and grow up with lacrosse — a sport played originally by the American Indians and now played at elite universities around the country. What is lacrosse? See here.

They will have more information about the teams as fall approaches, or you can learn more at the free clinic.
