La Nueva Union #2 Closed?

It seems just as soon as we posted about La Nueva Union #2, the reincarnation of a small Mexican spot on Newkirk Ave, that the gate came down–possibly for good.

Ann says she went to try it out and found it closed, and the folks next door at Karina told her they thought it was closed permanently. They said the same to me, and explained that they weren’t sure what happened, but that the shop had closed last week and hadn’t reopened since. Calls to the store’s phone number have gone unanswered all week.

If you notice it open, let us know. And in the meantime, where can we get tamales on this end of the neighborhood? I know Salud has them, and there are occasionally people selling them on the street, but is there anyplace else you would recommend?
