Kids Had a Blast at Compost for Brooklyn Block Party

Kids Had a Blast at Compost for Brooklyn Block Party

Did you check out the Compost for Brooklyn Block Party on Sunday? There were a lot of grown-ups having fun, but it seemed like the kids were really taking the best advantage of it!

Check out the flip on that crepe at the Center for Kosher Culinary Arts station!

Never seen kids so eager to shovel. They helped scoop up 7,000 pounds of compost, which Brownstoner notes came from “GrowNYC greenmarket drop-offs as well as wood shavings from local woodworkers and landscapers.”

Of course, there was also composting to be done inside the Compost for Brooklyn garden, which has open hours for food scrap collection on:

Thursdays, 4:30-6:30pm

Saturdays, 10am-1pm

Sundays, 1-4pm

If you missed the event, check out a bunch of pics at the C4B Facebook page. And for more information about how you can get involved at C4B, stop by the garden at the corner of Newkirk and East 7th Street, or email compostforbrooklyn@gmail.com.
