We have great news: Kettle & Thread (1219 Church Avenue, between Argyle and Westminster Roads) is now open!

The folks at the new arts & crafts shop, which also has a café and outdoor garden, let us know that they are now offering crafts, food and drinks — and the space, which is owned by neighbor Elizabeth Barraclough, will be starting classes in July.

For now, the café is offering hot coffee and cold brews from the Brooklyn Roasting Company, tea, Balthazar baked goods, and a simple menu of treats made in house. The menu will be expanding but currently includes snacks, such as yogurt with granola, roasted chickpeas, and avocado toast; salads, soups, and sandwiches.

Once you grab your food and drink, you can relax in the café or the back garden while enjoying a board game, book or magazine from the shop’s library.

Plus, the store is offering a selection of arts and crafts supplies, kits for kids, and some homemade gifts. There will also be a wide range of classes available for teens and adults, and among the first classes that Kettle & Thread will offer include: weaving a wall hanging, crocheting a produce bag, minicross stitch, sewing a phone case, and a friendship bracelet club.

Before the classes get going, the store will host its first Crafté Club tonight, Wednesday, June 24, from 7-8:30pm. For the event, bring your own project and meet fellow crafters while eating coffee and pastries.

Additionally, Kettle & Thread plans on regularly hosting events in both the café space and the garden, including live music (from jazz trios to indie rock bands and soul groups, the folks at the store told us), readings, film nights, and such social events as craft meet-ups, game nights and themed tea parties.

To keep up with all of Kettle & Thread’s happenings, you can visit its website and follow it on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
