It’s no surprise that filmmakers love our neighborhood. We had our fair share of busy film crews in 2015 — including a host of tv shows and films.

Keanu Reeves, Jimmy Kimmel, Lucy Liu, Paul Giamatti, and others were on many an avenue or street. And of course, the stars always leave the neighborhood scrambling for parking.

Where better than our neighborhood for one of the best backdrops on the planet?

Here’s a list of just some of the film shoots throughout 2015:

First off, the neighborhood went wild for Keanu Reeves when he was filming John Wick 2 on Bergen Street in October. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel to John Wick (2014) features Reeves “back as the dog-loving assassin.” Common will be playing the villain in the film.

A Showtime pilot about the financial world called Billions, starring Paul Giamatti (Sideways, American Splendor) and Damian Lewis (Homeland) showed up at least twice — in both February and November.

The CBS television show Elementary shot seemingly everywhere in March. The show, which stars Lucy Liu and Jonny Lee Miller is described as a modern spin on Sherlock Holmes.

Oh, Jimmy Kimmel, you just can’t get enough of your home borough, can you? Sequences for Jimmy Kimmel Live which were will broadcasted from Brooklyn Academy of Music were filmed both in and around Two Boots Pizza on 5th Avenue. He lampooned both “hipster Brooklyn” and Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing:

The new NBC television series The Mysteries of Laura came by in March. The show stars Debra Messing (Smash, Will & Grace) as a homicide detective “who can handle murderous criminals but not her hell-raising twin children,” according to Deadline and Josh Lucas (The Firm, Sweet Home Alabama) as her captain and soon-to-be ex-husband.

The Americans couldn’t get enough of the neighborhood in December. The television show stars Keri Russell (Felicity) and Matthew Rhys (Brothers & Sisters), and Season 4 is on its way. They swooped into Gowanus and also hiked up to 7th Avenue a few days later.

Did you see any film shoots in the neighborhood? Any good stories to share?
