Tonight is an opportunity to meet the police officers of both the 72nd Precinct and 78th Precinct at the National Night Out Against Crime event tonight, Tuesday, August 2.

Developed in 1984, National Night Out began as an effort to “promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.” It is celebrated annually across the country on the first Tuesday in August.

The 78th Precinct event will take place tonight from 6pm-8pm at Grand Army Plaza.

The 72nd Precinct event (for neighbors in South Slope, parts of Windsor Terrace, and Sunset Park) will take place tonight from 4pm-8pm at Sunset Park Soccer Field.

The evening includes family activities, food, and more.

For more information, call the 78th Precinct’s Community Affairs at 718-636-6410 or the 72nd Precinct’s Community Affairs at 718-965-6311.
