Councilmember Mathieu Eugene is finding a way to contribute to Typhoon Yolanda (aka Typhoon Haiyan) relief efforts, and now he’s asking neighbors to do the same. The storm, which hit the Philippines on November 8, has left thousands of people confirmed dead and far more injured, missing, displaced, and otherwise affected.

“I am calling on the compassion and generosity of my fellow New Yorkers to become a part of my Philippines Relief Task Force to uplift all Filipinos as they struggle to survive a crippling blow delivered by the storm,” says the Councilmember Eugene.

“The Philippines is on a long road to recovery, but with your help, we can work together to collectively provide humanitarian aid and assistance to those suffering.”

To join the Councilmember’s efforts, call 718-287-8762 or 212-788-7352, and leave your full name, phone number, and email address. And beyond that, know that Purple Yam still has another benefit brunch coming this Sunday (RSVP ahead of time), and The Times has a great list of ways to help, too.
